Notting Hill Genesis are one of the G15, which is a group of London’s leading housing associations. They are one of the largest housing associations in London and the southeast. They provide homes across a range of tenures and are committed to continuing to deliver housing that is aﬀordable to all.

As an organisation, they deliver a huge portfolio of projects, up to 40 per year. As such, it is vital that they employ set standards and ways of working across their project delivery teams.

Quanta and Notting Hill Genesis

Quanta Trainer, Tim Finch worked with Notting Hill Genesis to develop a tailored version of our Project Phoenix Simulation. The tailored version focussed on addressing specific areas of Project and Programme Management processes relevant to the project teams in their day-to-day expedition of ongoing projects. PMO Manager Catherine Ortlepp explained that Notting Hill Genesis Spent a considerable time looking at providers, to try and match their oﬀering to their requirements. Quanta was the only organisation that was able to tailor and deliver what was needed.

Notting Hill Genesis already use a Project Management Framework that teams adhere to. The impact of their work is crucial to the livelihood and security of thousands of people. As such, they felt it vital to provide project teams with eﬀective training that addressed the challenges faced when delivering at such a large and complex scale.

The Impact of Project Phoenix

Tara Gunn: The impact on the team has been great so far. We’re still in the early days. We are four or five courses in, but already it’s giving us a standardized way of working. Helping people to experience what that means in practice. And helping us to evolve as well in terms of the gaps that we have with people’s individual training and learning plans. I’m already seeing that standardization and buy in from different people that have attended the course. Project Phoenix has also created some excitement outside of my team in terms of how we deliver projects. Many people have attended that do not sit within the Programme Management Oﬃce. They have been excited and positive and have taken that energy back to the business. They have an invigorated understanding about how a project should be delivered and a better understanding about what our teams’ objectives are and the impact that we have. This is important as it increases the overall maturity of Project Management across Notting Hill Genesis. Project Phoenix is applicable to a wide variety of people.
