Quanta offers Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH) v12

Cyber Security 21st Sep

This month saw EC-Council launch the latest version of their CEH course, which Quanta are thrilled to be able to offer as part of our cybersecurity portfolio. CEH has long been an excellent course for cyber security professionals to familiarise themselves with a wide variety of tools and techniques that adversaries may use. Whether looking to harden an organisation against possible attacks or to employ those same methods as part of a penetration test CEH equips analysts and testers with not only the theory but also practical experience.

Here at Quanta, we pride ourselves on our cybersecurity courses being as hands on as possible with a distinct lack of PowerPoint slides. Having personally tested the iLabs provided by EC Council for this course (now on a new platform – CyberQ – no less!) I can attest that they are an excellent simulation of real world scenarios. Running within a web browser with no need for any additional software enables us to deliver this course in person or virtually through a virtual classroom, giving delegates greater flexibility in how they attend.

The advantages of the lab environment are not only that they provide additional context and depth of understanding to technical concepts, but also that they provide a safe space in which to test those concepts. Particularly when using malware or exposing vulnerabilities on operating systems it is often difficult to build an environment that simulates reality without powerful hardware or potentially risking live services. Delegates also retain access to the labs after completion of the 5 day course, enabling further practice as part of exam preparation.

But just how is CEH v12 different to v11, well the main headline changes are:

  • Added MITRE ATT&CK Framework and Diamond intrusion model
  • Increased focus on evasion and anti forensics techniques
  • Newer OS attack vectors (Server 2022, Windows 11)
  • Updates to hundreds of ethical hacking tools

I personally consider CEH to be a great qualification to get started in cybersecurity, which is a massive growth industry and certainly in the UK is suffering from a fairly hefty skills shortage. I also take great pride in the quality of our delivery of this course, with our instructors capable of adding real world examples of attack techniques as well as additional context beyond the course materials. While the total topics covered can be daunting, our 5 day course combined with self study through the EC-Council platform puts our delegates in an excellent position to pass the exam and begin an exciting career in making us more secure.
