Prerequisites

You should ideally have some experience of working with or as part of a project team, as well as a basic understanding of project management tools and techniques, such as those covered within our PFQ and PMQ courses.

Pre-course work required

15 hours of pre-course preparation is required. Pre-course material will be sent to you 4-6 weeks before the start of the course. This is an intensive course which will guide you through the entire methodology. Please note that you will be expected to complete approximately 2 hours of homework each evening during the course.

More about the exam
The Foundation exam is a 1 hour, closed book, multiple choice exam at the end of day 3 of the course. 36 marks out of 60 are required to pass (60%). The Practitioner exam is at the end of the final day of the course, and is a 2.5 hour open book (PRINCE2 manual only) multiple choice exam. It has a scenario background and appendices.

Practitioner status will last for 3 years. Practitioner status can be upheld in the following ways:
 
1. An active subscription to the AXELOS PRINCE2 membership scheme each year - starting from 10 July 2017, one year's PRINCE2 Membership will be offered by AXELOS to candidates who successfully complete PRINCE2 2017 Practitioner exams. Membership duration is for one year, and the offer is currently valid until 31 December 2017.
 
2. Completing the required 45 AXELOS CPD points within 3 years
 
3. Retaking the full PRINCE2 Practitioner exam after the 3 year period has elapsed
