What a year! This time 12 months ago we had just been awarded ‘Service Leavers Training Company of the year’ at the Nationwide Resettlement Awards. And here we are again – on the eve of such a prestigious event the black tie dress is out the wardrobe and ready for another outing.
The resettlement journey from military to civilian life can be incredibly daunting although exciting at the same time. For most of these men and woman the uniform is all they have known and leaving can feel like starting again. Re-training is a key component of this transition and the awards provides recognition for the people who help Service Leavers with their journey.
Personally I love my job and working with the forces has been one of the most rewarding things I’ve done. I have met some truly inspirational people along the way all of whom make me proud to do what I do.
So here’s to another fabulous evening – tissues at the ready, acceptance speech practiced and dancing shoes packed!
