Unix
Now well over 30 years old, Unix has established itself as a robust, scalable, secure server operating system used by many large organisations. Many standards and features created in the Unix world have been adopted world-wide by the Internet, including protocols for sending and retrieving e-mail, fetching and displaying web pages and common network interconnectivity. However, despite all its strengths, it still remains a somewhat unfriendly and daunting platform for the beginner; it was designed purely with performance in mind.
Some Flavours of Unix:
- Solaris from Sun Microsystems, running on x86-based hardware and proprietry Sun hardware.
- Advanced Interactive Executive (AIX) from International Business Machines (IBM), running on 64-bit x86 hardware and RISC systems
- HP-UX, from Hewlett-Packard, running on proprietry HP hardware For detailed course information and dates please follow the links below or use the search facility
