Is DirectAccess one of the most exciting new Microsoft technologies?

DirectAccess could be one of the most exciting technologies to come with the arrival of Windows 7 and Server 2008 R2.

DirectAccess allows clients that are not directly connected to the corporate LAN to access internal resources by establishing an IPSec encrypted tunnel (between two Ipv6 addresses, through the intermediate IPv4 network and internet). In short, clients that are not at the LAN in a traditional sense, are on the LAN.

What is the best way to become an ITIL® Expert?

Unfortunately there is no model answer but we can offer you some guidance.

To achieve the ITIL Expert in IT Service Management, you must successfully complete a number of Intermediate units in addition to the mandatory Foundation Level and the Managing Across the Lifecycle (MALC) course, which brings together the full essence of a Lifecycle approach to Service Management, and consolidates the knowledge gained across the qualification scheme.

Lifecycle vs Capability

Lifecycle Stream

The Lifecycle stream focuses on how the discipline of the Lifecycle phase is managed. Rather than just pure theory, the courses mix instructor led sessions with discussion and syndicate work. The Lifecycle modules tend to focus within the particular phase rather than across the lifecycle as a whole. All courses look at Service Management as a discipline, the processes associated, the roles required and the technology implications for the lifecycle phase.

SQL Server 2008 - is it time to adopt it?

Microsoft SQL Server 2008 was released over twelve months ago and many of our customers are beginning to think about taking it onboard. Generally this new release of SQL Server is more evolutionary than revolutionary. At first glance Management Studio seems to be quite familiar, you have to go looking to find many of the new features. This article will pick out a few of the new features and enhancements that appeal to me and may help you decide if to upgrade. With hundreds, if not thousands of changes this list is totally subjective of course.

Windows 7, another Microsoft cash cow or a new best friend in the making??

I went to a Microsoft Roadshow about Windows 7 a few weeks back and following on from the launch of release candidate 1 (RC1) early in May 2009 the IT community were hoping for a client operating system to enthuse about but did we get one?

If you focus on the daily rate of training – it could be costing you a fortune!

Companies like us offer a huge raft of different training courses and to enable customers to still take advantage of economies of scale, often come up with the far easier approach of a daily rate for training. Every training company out there has some sort of purchasing scheme like this, where you buy “bulk days” at a discounted rate and can use these against courses in their course portfolio; we call such a scheme Training Days.
