If you focus on the daily rate of training - it could be costing you a fortune!
Companies like us offer a huge raft of different training courses and to enable customers to still take advantage of economies of scale, often come up with the far easier approach of a daily rate for training. Every training company out there has some sort of purchasing scheme like this, where you buy “bulk days” at a discounted rate and can use these against courses in their course portfolio; we call such a scheme Training Days.
Buying your training in this way is good for a number of reasons, which we will explore later but if you are not careful it could actually be costing you money!!
In some recent research comparing the length of courses within the marketplace, it came to light that on average our courses are 1 day shorter than that of our competitors. If you are studying for a MCTS, MCITP or CCNA for example this can really add up and you could find yourself out of the office for 1 or 2 weeks longer than you need to be! Equally if you book hundreds of days training annually think how many of those days could be saved, 1 in 4 maybe?
It is a simple matter of mathematics when you think about it but to put this into context we can use a hypothetical example:

So if you look at the cost per day it looks like Quanta are considerably more expensive, where in fact we are £135 cheaper! In addition to quote Benjamin Franklin “Time is money” so the fact you also save time of the office is an additional intangible saving.
Although it is not the case that every course we run is shorter, for example some courses have a strict syllabus and the course length is thus set out by the examining body. In these circumstances our research showed that the cost of the course with us was cheaper anyway!
I said earlier that buying bulk training days at a discounted rate is a good idea and I still stand by that statement, as you get a number of benefits including; cost savings; you protect your training budget and can increase the ROI you get on your training. And with our Training Day scheme (unlike a lot of our competitors) there are no tiers, no exceptions, you can use days against any of our the courses on our public training schedule.
So the next time you are looking to purchasing training take 5 minutes and look at the overall picture and specifically the daily rate in context, as you may be surprised at what you find out!!
